TS VENDETTA, the Australian Navy Cadet training facility in Coffs Harbour, NSW, is regrettably now closed. The facility will be levelled at the start of October after training nearly 50 years worth of cadets. A new beachside Restaurant/cafe is planned for the site.
The Navy Cadets of Coffs Harbour were deeply saddened this past Saturday after the news that it was their very last parade within the building. After viewing the plans displayed for the new building with limited facilities for the cadets, they are extremely disappointed. The cadets had been working towards building upgrades, recently completed works ( with a complete new roof, repaint of the building, modern flooring on main deck, new boatshed roller doors with safety gates to provide security and allow air flow) to upgrade the building for bigger and better joint activities with neighbouring units and have also been working on ways to help support the local community. Unfortunately, the unit will not be able to celebrate TS Vendetta’s 50th Anniversary with their Annual Review & Inspection at Coffs Harbour Jetty in 16 months time.
The current Staff, Cadets and Unit Support Committee of TS Vendetta salute all those that honoured HMAS Vendetta’s crew and inspired youth over the past 49 years. We would like to thank the Australian Navy Cadet organisation, members of the Unit Support Committees past and present, the Coffs Harbour Masonic Centre, HMAS Vendetta Veteran Association, Sawtell Naval Association, Coffs Harbour surf life saving club, Returned Services League (RSL) of Australia, Coffs Ex Services Club and the RSL sub-branches at Coffs Harbour, Sawtell and Woolgoolga for many years of support.
We salute all the cadets and staff over the past 49 years that have kept TS Vendetta a living naval memorial honouring a great Australian heritage.
Lest We Forget.
